Alongside writing games, I also work as a facilitator for game jams and workshops, as well as consultant on game mechanics for various kinds of live gaming. A few examples:
Game jams
- I designed and ran the Radio Elusia Game Jam for Boundless Theatre in 2021 (an online jam hosted on Gather.town where participants made and playtested TTRPGs over two days)
- I facilitated Playful Prototyping with Care mini-jam in 2023 (an in-person event for the Now Play This festival, with participants making and sharing games in a couple of hours).
Workshops & courses
- Game Creation and Collaborative Storytelling (with Coney for St Martins and the Johnny Carson Centre)
- Making Playable Theatre (with Upstart Theatre at University of Bedfordshire and Birkbeck University)
- An Introduction to ARGs (for Norwich University of Arts)
- Worldbuilding (specifically tailored to young gamers) and storytelling for GMs (both for The Place Bedford).
- I have also created specialised 1-on-1 workshops for multiple artists expanding into interactive work.
- I co-ran the Writing for Interactive Media intensive at Central School of Speech and Drama in 2023
Talks
- larp design for the Immersive Experience Network
- live gaming and integrated tech for Norwich University of Arts
- GMing for UK Games Expo
I was also the Time Travel Consultant for a live show once, figuring out precisely how time travel needed to work for the story they wanted to tell and interactions they wanted to have. It remains my best-ever job title.
I’m always excited to help others make games, whether that’s supporting them through a game jam, building skills in a workshop or providing an outside eye on projects. Contact me at info@rollflipdraw.co.uk if you’d like to know more about what I can provide to your students, group or project (or use my contact page if you’d rather).
